Day 1 - Your "TOP TWELVE"

What is heaviest on your heart today?
Let's seek the Lord for wisdom and perspective...

  • look up Jeremiah 29:13 in your Bible
  • write Jeremiah 29:12-14a in your special notebook

If you have a few extra minutes,

  • read the context (verses 1-19) and ask yourself the following questions making notes in your journal
  1. Where was Jeremiah when he wrote this letter?
  2. To whom was it written?
  3. Where were those people living?
  4. Who carried the letter?
  5. What were the instructions given in verses 5-8?  (Try to list "12".)
  6. What are the promises the Lord makes in verses 10-14?  (Make note of which ones He repeats.)
  7. And, how long would it be until that promise would be fulfilled?
  8. In the stern prophecy of verses 15-19, what two statements specifically describe or address the exiles? (Hint:  Look for the word "YOU".)

What phrases in this passage speak most to you?

Begin praying by writing a response to this passage.
End your letter to the Lord by telling Him of your intent to seek Him and listen.

PRAYER CHALLENGE:

Make a List of your "TOP TWELVE" concerns.

(This will be your primary prayer list for the next twelve days.)

Take a few minutes to pray over each of the items on your list, asking the Lord to speak to you specifically and clearly about each issue.

EVENING MEDITATION:

Here are a few "seeking" songs to listen to as you meditate on the popular Christmas phrase:  "WISE MEN STILL SEEK HIM".

The traditional "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" (instrumental)

My favorite modern version of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"  (Steven Curtis Chapman)

The traditional hymn, "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" (instrumental, from one of my favorite tub-time CDs)

"Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" (with lyrics, sung by Christy Nockels)
